What do the people have to say?

At the discovery phase of my project, I conducted user interviews in order to get a better understanding of the problem.

I chose an online survey because it is a good way to get a lot of responses from different types of people.

I asked users how often they order flowers online? If they attend floral markets? What they are looking for from a florist? If they use floral apps currently? If users prefer dried blooms or fresh blooms?

I had 30 responses to my survey on surveymonkey. I was most curious to know :
-If people actually ordered flowers using an app.
- If there was a demand for dry blooms as Fleur & Rebelle offer a lot of dry floral options that can be more heavily promoted
- How important it is for a company to be eco-conscious/ would the consumer spend more from an eco-conscious company compared to a non eco-conscious one.
- For what occasions are people most likely to order flowers.
- If people are interested in floral subscriptions

I collected the following data:
- That most people do not use floral apps and typically use websites to order flowers.
- People usually turn to the web to order flowers rather than an app.
- People are likely to order dry blooms as they last longer but find there aren't a lot of nice options out there.
- A good majority of people are very interested in conscious brands and will spend that extra money to support them as long as the price difference isn't substantial
- People are most likely to order flowers for Mothers day, Birthdays, Congratulations and get well gifts.
- People are generally not as interested in floral subscriptions but would be more inclined to try it if they included other local products as well.

So, who is our user?
Here are the specific audiences I think my product would appeal to:

The eco-conscious- People who are doing what they can for the environment - in this case minimizing packaging and choosing eco-conciously bought blooms
People purchasing gifts- This might happen more often during the holiday times - Valentines day, Thanksgiving, Mothers day...
30-39 year olds- This demographic have the highest purchasing power and can easily use the internet to purchase flowers easily.
Flowers grow and so do designers

I learned a lot from this app.
- Research is everything! - Without it I would have missed out on adding several key elements (a review page/ fresh blooms/ events)
- The product needs to stand out especially when your product is based on appearance.
Icons need to be recognizable and easy to locate as to save the user time
- With a product that is constantly changing it is important for the shop owner to easily be able to add and delete products daily.
